Undergraduate Peer Tutor Research Symposium
From Fall 2024 to Spring 2025, I researched African American Vernacular English (AAVE), or Black English, as part of a training program for peer tutors at the University of Pittsburgh’s Writing Center. I wrote a research paper on how the language is misunderstood and the impacts of only teaching Standard American English (SAE) on Black students in the US. I then translated this research into a poster tying it to the Writing Center, which I presented to peers and faculty.

ENGCMP 1910: Bridge Seminar
For my senior capstone in Public & Professional Writing, I conducted a semester-long research project about how the field of journalism is changing. I addressed the decline in public trust in media outlets, the rise of AI and social media, and the widespread decrease in attention spans.
My final project (linked below) includes a literature review, a presentation slideshow, a reflective essay, and links to mock social media posts I made demonstrating the type of content journalists need to become familiar with.
